This 18-month, full-time program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography will provide you with first-hand clinical experience in a broad range of both routine and highly specialized ultrasound procedures — in one of the largest and most dynamic labs in the country. Diagnostic Medical Sonography uses high frequency sound waves to create images of the human body. Accredited ultrasound programs are found at Long Island University, Center for Allied Health Education, and SUNY Downstate Medical Center. The student population in Brooklyn is over 60,000 enrollees, representing a diverse population that enhances the educational experience. Sonographers perform medical imaging using sophisticated ultrasound instrumentation.
