I love Tove Jansson's singular style, and I love these illustrations, but this calendar was a huge disappointment for me, simply because all the illustrations are laid out across the fold. This severely compromises the presentation of the artwork, as there is a fold running right through every single image, splitting every image across two signature sheets.

The Hobbit’s 80th Anniversary edition in Finnish includes Jansson’s fabulous illustrations and a cover previously only seen in the Hobbit’s first Finnish edition Lohikäärmevuori. Lohikäärmevuori was published in 1973 by the publisher Kustannusosakeyhtiö Tammi, with the drawings Tove Jansson did for the second edition of the Swedish version Bilbo: en Hobbits Äventyr , 1962.
